UFC 185 Dallas

MMA’s biggest promotion returns to the Big D this Saturday with a Championship Double Header! The UFC comes to Dallas’ American Airlines Center for the third time and possibly its biggest event in Texas yet. With a stacked card the Main event hosts something for all fight fans, including the Champ Anthony Pettis defending his belt against the veteran Rafael do Anjos. Carla Esparza gets her first title defense against Torques own Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Dallas’ hometown favorite Johny Hendricks returns to the same place where he won a split decision battle against Robbie Lawler for the Welterweight Championship. TO round out the card, heavyweights Alistair Overeem throws down against the heavy handed Roy Nelson. The main card gets started with a scrap between featherweights Henry Cejudo and Contender Chris Cariaso. As if that wasn’t enough the prelims host a ton of amazing fights you won’t want to miss. Torque fighter Dallas’ own Ryan Benoit takes on the Middleweight champion’s younger brother in Sergio Pettis.

Ryan “Baby Face” Benoit steps into the Octagon to face perhaps his biggest challenge to date. Benoit fighting out of Dallas gets his second UFC fight after a disappointing start against Josh Sampo at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. Refocused and ready for action Benoit takes on Sergio Pettis who has gone 3-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming to Alex Caceres. Sergio has disposed of other Dallas fighters Matt Hobar, and Will Campuzano. This will be the first attempt for Sergio to hit 125 pounds in the UFC and size could be a slight advantage for Pettis. Benoit comes into this fight with strong Muy Thai skills and powerful hands. Benoit has a well-rounded game and will look for the finish early. Benoit will be weighing in the Velocity Tee and walking out in the new Sniper Camo tee.

Torque is very excited to be in the corner with Strawweight #1 contender Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Fighting out of Poland Joanna possess deadly Muay Thai and has been working heavily on JiuJitsu and ground game. Possibly the most well rounded Strawweight in the division and sporting a perfect 8-0 record Joanna is looking to take advantage of this opportunity and leave Dallas the with belt. This will be Joanna’s second UFC fight after her unanimous decision win against Juliana de Lima Carneiro. Carla Cruised through the Ultimate Fighter and took the title with a submission win over Rose Namajunas in the third round. This Saturday both women will need to be prepared for 5 rounds and the big lights of the Co-main event. Joanna will be wearing the Torque Worldwide Shorts this weekend.

All the action gets started Saturday on early Fight Pass Prelims at 5:30 central time. FX Prelims get started at 7 pm and Main Card begins at 9pm Central. Weigh-ins will be hosted at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at 4pm Central.
