This weekend Torque Sports athletes were in full effect! Lance Palmer went to work in in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada defending his belt in the World Series of Fighting on Friday evening. Saturday afternoon Anthony Napolitan put on an epic showing at X Games Austin 2015!
Lance Palmer became the first fighter in history to successfully defend his belt in the World Series of Fighting. The featherweight champion from Team Alpha Male took Chris Horodecki down twice and controlled much of the action. The fight was scheduled for 5 rounds but the faster stronger Palmer only needed one to get the tap. Palmer submitted Horodecki at 4:28 of the first round with a rear-naked choke. Palmer landed good left hand punches forcing Horodecki to fight moving backwards.
Horodecki was able to slip out the first time Palmer restrained him in a neck crank, but he was not able to do it a second time around. Palmer had him on the ground locked into a choke forcing him to tap. The 27-year-old Palmer has 3 consecutive wins, all via rear-naked choke, and may be one of the organization’s biggest names.
Anthony Napolitan put it down with style at the X Games in the Texas heat Saturday in Austin, TX. High winds gave many of the riders a sketchy run, and many riders waiting at the start for a break in gusts before the run. Anthony started out with a strong first run putting him in the top three early. Judges take the best score from three runs giving athletes a chance to land a safe run then get crazy. Anthony stepped it up in his second and third runs. Kyle Baldock early on looked like the man to beat. On Napo’s last run many fans thought it was his best of the day and enough to jump back into the bronze spot, but he ended just a few points shy of the bronze taking a very impressive 4th. Napolitan was excited to come back after not riding the dirt portion of the X-Games since 2006 where he earned a bronze medal. He will certainly be back soon to the X Games in the quest of receiving a well-deserved first place medal.
