UFC 178 is upon us and the flyweight’s look to put on a headlining show. The belt is on the line, and Demetrius Johnson has looked unstoppable since the beginning of the division. This Saturday night in Las Vegas Chris Cariaso steps up as the latest challenger. Winner of three straight fights and possessing legitimate speed and striking power Chris looks to dethrone the champ. UFC 178 also has some intriguing match ups that should not be missed. Two of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC, Cowboy Cerrone and #14 ranked Eddie Alvarez face off against each other. Conor McGregor faces his first top ten ranked fighter in #5 Dustin Poirier. Tim Kennedy looks to stop the incredible punching power of Yoel Romero.
As if you needed another reason to tune in, Team Torque has an amazing line up of fighters this weekend in Las Vegas. Cat Zingano returns to the Octagon and represents Torque against Amanda Nunes to kick off UFC 178 Main Card. Cat returns after much trial and tribulation including surgery on her knee after a win against Miesha Tate. Cat was originally scheduled to do the Ultimate Fighter against Ronda Rousey before being shelved for over a year. The anxious return means the return of the top of the Bantamweight Women’s divisions. With little competition for Ronda, a win here against Nunes will most certainly get Cat a title shot, and possibly the biggest challenge for Rousey. Alpha Cat walks out Saturday night in the new Discover Your Force Navy Torque tee.
Before the main card kicks off the Fox Sports 1 prelims continue to get better. With each fight stacked many fans will be tuning in early, and this time they will catch Team Torque fighters John Doomsday Howard and Takeya Mizugaki.
Howard starts the night off against Brain Ebersol. Howard has won two of his last 5 and all fights have come to decisions. Look for Howard to anxiously get the win and not leave anything in the hands of judges. Doomsday will be walking into the Octagon in the new TRQ Initials Gray tee.
The main event on Fox 1 might be the biggest Prelim free fight since Urijah Faber fought Alex Caceres. And how fitting that Torque fighter Takeya Mizugaki is fighting longtime Faber rival Dominick Cruz. Dominick steps back into the Octagon after a well-publicized 3 year run on injured reserve. Fans will be curious if Dominick can return to his old ways and look like the former champ against Mizugaki who has 5 straight wins. With Dominick giving up the belt and now fellow Alpha Male teammate TJ Dillashaw holding the gold Dominick must be anxious to get back to the top of the division. Mizugaki (20-7-2), of Kanagawa, Japan, made his first impression on North American fans with a memorable battle against Miguel Torres on short notice in a 2009 WEC title fight. Mizugaki Steps in against Dominick wearing the Torque Liberator Tee.
Manny Gamburyan starts off the Octagon for everyone on the early Fight pass prelims. Manny is coming off a very tough fight against Nik Lentz that went to a decision loss. Many always one of the toughest featherweights in the UFC . At UFC 168 Manny ultimately got a no-contest when Dennis Siver tested positive for hCG. This weekend Manny moves down to Bantamweight and the drop to 135 might be what he needs to being a new winning streak. Gamburyan looks to stop Cody Gibson Saturday night walking out in the new Torque Green Envy tee.
With such a stacked card This weekend in Vegas make sure you tune in early . Weigh-ins start Friday Sept 26th at 7pm EST. all the action starts early Sat 7PM/4PM ET/PT on UFC Fight Pass.
