MMA and Action Sports Gear Company Torque Announces New Image, Focus, Attitude

December 2, 2014 – Coming off the recent introduction of its new look, Torque Sports and Performance announced its breakthrough in the world of Mixed Martial Arts—UFC in particular—and the action sports industry as a whole after bringing in some of the top athletes who have helped to define its unique identity and attitude.

Recently, Torque’s family has evolved to include some of this generation’s most groundbreaking designers, artists, photographers, athletes and musicians—all of whom have helped perpetuate Torque’s unique culture with their achievements. Today, Torque takes the next step in introducing new team members and athletes who represent their passion for action sports. Torque’s drive and desire to expand its reach into BMX, Skate, Motorcross, Surfing and Fitness—among many other action sports—has become the primary focus of their future endeavors.

Working closely alongside co-owners Urijah Faber and Scott James, Torque’s new Action Sports brand manager TJ Lavin is a familiar face and household name as the first true superstar of BMX Freestyle, as well as the current host of MTV’s “The Challenge”. TJ has been instrumental in building the future of Torque, creating an action sports team with diverse interests and styles. Based out of Las Vegas, Lavin has scouted his favorite athletes and chosen the team very carefully, adding the talents of Terry Adams, the king of flatland BMX. Terry—coming out of Louisiana—has been riding most of his life and is the most decorated and innovative Flatland rider in the industry. As an ambassador for Flatland, Terry travels the world and is continually on tour showcasing his skills.

Torque also welcomes Taylor Bray, who joins the team as a native of Torque’s headquarter location in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Taylor has been a force in competitions and continually pushes himself, learning new tricks and entering competitions nationwide. We also welcome Josh Rodriguez, another addition handpicked by TJ Lavin. Check out Rodriguez’s resume and it’s immediately clear why he is on Team Torque. A “Go Big or Go Home” style Skateboarder, “JROD” got the attention of the judges at a number of major events, including the Protec Pool Party, GvR, Tim Brauch Memorial, and many more.

Another of TJ Lavin’s protégés is big ramp BMX rider Anthony Napolitan. Anthony does everything big, racking up podium wins and invitations to the biggest events of the year including X-Games, Red Bull Elevation, and Dew Tour. Torque has also added a face that’ll be familiar to Team Alpha Male fans and followers: trainer, coach, and Team Alpha Male radio host Justin Buchholz. Justin—along with running Ultimate Fitness—will be doing monthly blogs and tutorials for Torque.
